introduction

SWIMM evolved from the WDA’s Best Practice Development Programme and the DTI’s Managing in the 90’s Programme.

The Network originated in 1994 and has subsequently organised events on best practice for its membership. SWIMM focuses on supply chain development and particularly sharing the experiences of organisations in mechanisms adopted to realise benefits. Late in 2003 a subtle name change was implemented (from 'Innovation in Material Management' to 'Innovative Modern Management') as a consequence of a widening membership including non-manufacturing, service industries and public sector bodies.

the aims of swimm

Provision of information in relation to Management Best Practice (Supply Chain Management in particular) to local firms in a way appropriate to local interests.

SWIMM, which is a non-profit making organisation, provides a forum for local firms of all sizes, together with educational and professional bodies, to exchange experience and knowledge of current management thinking on their journeys towards excellence.

A route map of support within the network and the local community.
